Smithfield Foods sees sales of packaged, fresh pork divisions soar

Lower hog prices helped Smithfield's fresh pork and packaged meat businesses, but the cut in prices negatively affected the firm's hog raising operations in 2015. The Smithfield-based pork producing powerhouse, now a wholly-owned subsidiary of China-based WH Group Limited, recorded $14.4 billion in sales in 2015, according to a report filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission .
