This vacancy note concerns an onsite consulting position at EUMETSAT in Darmstadt, Germany. Software engineer for mission control system support Sentinel 3 1513004 Job Description You will provide prime support to the evolution and maintenance of the EUMETSAT Copernicus Sentinel3 Mission Control System part of the EUMETSAT Copernicus Sentinel3 FOS. The EUMETSAT Copernicus Sentinel3 Mission Control System is built from MICONYS components like SCOS2000, F ARC, PARC and NIS. Your tasks will typically include Maintenance and Evolution Activities Reengineering activities analysis of the porting of some subsystems to stateofthe art technologies, tradeoff studies of various technologies, software design of the technical solutions. Evolutions and changes generation andor analysis of userdriven and maintenance driven software requirements, software design of the technical solutions. Preventive and corrective maintenance including the investigation and correction of anomalies in the software facilities and verification testing of the fixes. Maintenance test procedures generation and updates of maintenance test procedures at software facility level and at system level. Support and development of the verification infrastructure development andor procurement of scripts I tools to perform installation checks, nonregression, functional and performance testing. Coordination of the production of new software releases or patches, delivery acceptance and installation onsite. This activity includes the technical coordination of the production by an external contractor of new releases or patches of the application software, liaison with the EUMETSAT operational users, participation to technical reviews, participation to infactory acceptance testing campaigns and coordination of the installation of the releases or patches onsite at EUMETSAT. Execution and coordination of software verification and nonregression testing campaigns. User Support to include software support, ensuring operations continuity and training. Technical Management to include documentation generation and updates of technical documents, routine reporting and being the technical point of contact for maintenance contractors. Required Skills and Experience minimum 5 years experience in software maintenance and evolution of Satellite Mission Control Systems based on MICONYS software suite from ESAESOC. In particular, experience in all the following MICONYS components is considered mandatory SCOS2000, SLE API, F ARC, PARC and NIS. Knowledge and understanding with actual working experience of space related standards ECSS and CCSDS concerning spacetoground interfaces and applicable to Satellite Mission Control Systems such as ECSS Packet Utilisation Standard PUS, CCSDS Space Packet Protocol SPP and CCSDS Space Link Extension Protocol SLE. minimum 5 years experience in the full cycle of development of application software, preferably for Satellite Mission Control Systems, following formal software engineering processes. minimum 3 years experience in corrective maintenance, integration and verification testing activities of application software for Satellite Mission Control Systems following formal software engineering processes. experience in being the technical point of contact for contractors working at offsite premises and responsible for application software evolution and maintenance. minimum 5 years experience in developing and maintaining software applications using Java and C programming languages under UNIX operating systems. minimum 3 years experience in developing and maintaining software applications using objectoriented technologies, Unified Modelling Language UML for software design and CASE design tools. Desirable Skills and Experience Experience with the following list of MICONYS components DABYS, EDDS, GFTS, MATIS, SFT and SMF. Experience with Mission Control Systems for LEO spacecraft. Knowledge of Flight Dynamics Systems. Knowledge of Mission Planning Systems. Experience with Satellite Simulators. Experience with software support to operations for Satellite Mission Control Systems. IBM DOORS requirement management tool. Experience in version Control Systems CVS and SVN. Linux Operating System. Experience in developing and maintaining software applications using ODBCJDBC bridges and programmatic interfaces to MySQL RDBMS. Data model design for RDBMS. Administration ofMySQL RDBMS. Interprocess communication mechanisms, in particular TCPIP and CORBA standards. XML processing schema design, validation, parser libraries, transformation XSL T andXPath. Eclipse Rich Client Platform applications development and maintenance. Experience using tools for the automation of software testing. Experience with static and dynamic software analysis tools in support to testing and troubleshooting.
