(Telecompaper) Sony has unveiled its new flagship smartphone, the Xperia Z1, at the Ifa consumer electronics show in Berlin. Expected to hit the market later in September, the aluminium-body phone comes with a 5-inch 1080p Triluminous screen, Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor with 2.2GHz CPU, 20.7 megapixel camera and 3,000 mAh battery. Sony said the phone highlights the best of its entertainment technology. This includes imaging features such as augmented reality apps and live Facebook comments, as well as the company's Walkman and Movies apps for streaming music, TV and movies. Sony is bundling with the phone five free on-demand movies, a pass to see the movie Elysium and two months free access to its streaming music service. It also comes with a new second-screen TV app called TrackID TV, giving users access to more info on programmes they may be watching and the ability to share the viewing experience over social networks. The Xperia Z1 will be available in black, white or purple. It features 16GB storage plus a microSD card slot and 2GB RAM and runs the Android OS. Sony also announced the QX10 and QX100 'lens-style' camera accessories, which can be mounted on the smartphone to boost the image quality. These connect over WI-Fi or NFC to the phone and are controlled by an app on the phone.
