This position will be responsible for the communications subsystem design and analysis efforts for ispaces lunar lander development. ispace is a leading microrobotics Japanese company with a subsidiary in the United States and another in Europe. ispaces Hakuto rover won the Google XPRIZE mobility milestone award and is a leading contender for the 20M Grand Prize. ispaces lunar lander is its next step towards prospecting for, mining and utilizing lunar resources to expand human presence in space. The ideal candidate will have a broad knowledge base in RF analysis, design and integration including redundant and reliable communication paths. The effort includes all phases of design, from helping the team define system architecture, to component selection and supporting small scale manufacturing and hardwaresoftware debugging. A desire to iterate designs quickly and interest in performing handson prototyping is a must. Key Responsibilities Perform RF subsystem design and analysis, including link budget analysis for space to ground, ground to space, and space to space links Participate in requirements specification phases, using inputs from other stakeholders, including GNC and Operations Collaborate on subsystem architecture design, equipment selection including trade studies and make or buy decisions for onboard as well as ground support equipment, with other design and analysis team members Define verification and validation approach of complete subsystem performance Support mission analysis and operations activities Support integration, troubleshooting and testing Basic Qualifications Masters degree in Electrical Engineering microwaveRFelectromagnetic related studies, or equivalent Five or more years experience in RF path design and software integration for highreliability applications, including equipment selection Proficiency in the understanding of electrical schematic diagrams Experience in ground testing activities Experience in procurement and integration of electricalelectronic components Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills Preferred Experience Ph.D. degree in AerospaceRF Engineering or a related field Ten or more years spacecraft RF design experience Small spacecraft andor lander development, launch vehicle integration and test support Knowledge of space communication standards, in particular CCSDS Experience with supporting operations activities including ranging Experience with electrical ground support equipment Experience with ground stations and command and control networks
