JOB DESCRIPTION Responsibilities Duties Tasks The SPACON is responsible To operate all or part of the mission system, which may incorporate parts of the ground segment as well as the space segment, as specified for each mission. In preparatory phases or special operations LEOP, deorbiting the SPACON will be required to assist in configuring and testing the operational system to support the operations. The SPACON may be required to develop methods or tools to assist in the execution of the operations, for which heshe is required to become familiar with the mission and the control facilities at his disposal. The SPACON will take part in simulations and prelaunch test campaigns, and in postlaunch refresher training and simulation. During the operational phase, the SPACON will o Monitor and control all operational progress, in accordance with the scheduled operations plan, ensuring that safety criteria are respected and that all operations are conducted in accordance with the established procedures o Perform specific operations relating to individual missions, as defined in the operations plans, or as instructed by the responsible SOM, SOE or Analyst o Immediately inform the responsible personnel when an anomaly is detected, in accordance with the established procedures o Take corrective action as necessary, applying the contingency emergency procedures approved for the mission o Coordinate with the responsible personnel for any scheduling required o Prepare operations reports as requested o Assist in the production of printouts, graphs and plots for offline evaluation and analysis o Prepare and complete all necessary forms for the daily operations routine. The personnel carrying out these control tasks are computersupported and the manmachine interface is normally via alphanumeric displays, graphic displays, MIMICs and standard keyboards with pointing device. During the operational phase of a mission, the SPACON personnel will be expected to follow regular training and simulations for the inorbit spacecraft. It covers training to keep staff proficient, and training on new operational procedures. Training will be given by the appropriate Analyst and Operations Engineer. Regular use of a spacecraft simulator is to be planned for. This task is to be considered essential to the continued successful operation of a mission, but has a lower priority than operational tasks. Qualifications A good background in a scientific or technical discipline is necessary, to the level equivalent to Senior Technician. Experience with using computer systems is required, and experience in data communication andor ground station systems is an advantage. Experience operating spacecraft or related ground systems is highly desirable. The candidate should be able to demonstrate an orderly, reliable and disciplined approach to the execution of operations and be capable of working calmly and correctly under stress. Fluency in English is mandatory. Required knowledge Knowledge of satellite or ground operations. Experience in working in an operational environment. Good experience with office automation tools, including MS EXCEL and MS ACCESS use of functions, queries, macros, reports, input forms, etc.. Programming experience, possibly with Visual Basic andor SQL. Service provision will be exclusively in English. Ability to organise, and work in a SPACON team. Familiarity with operational training. Familiarity with operational simulators, ideally SimSat. Familiarity with satellite control systems, ideally SCOS2000. Familiarity with programmingscripting languages e.g. C, Java, JavaScript, S2K OL. Experience of reporting on operational systems, including generation of data analysis reports. Familiarity with effective teamwork principles and team building aspects. Some knowledge in the operation of NDIU servers in Earth Observation. Some knowledge in the operation of MUST servers. Some knowledge with Quality Management Systems and its implementation in medium to big organisations. Some knowledge or practical handson experience with mission planning systems. WHAT DO WE OFFER?
