SATURN Satellite Networks UK is looking to recruit key personnel for a new satellite manufacture in the UK which will disrupt the existing satellite communications market. StructuralMechanical Engineer Description Based at our new stateoftheart facilities in the UK, Saturn satellite manufacturing will be producing compact communications satellites 200Kg500Kg for Geostationary, MidEarth Orbit and LowEarth orbit systems for export around the world. Our unique payload of shaped antenna systems and programmable digital processor will allow full communications services to be provided inorbit at a costpoint which is a fraction of the cost of traditional communications satellites. To carry the communications payload we will be producing a new spacecraft platform in the UK, and utilising the latest techniques in automated engineering. We are therefore seeking the highest calibre individuals to join our platform design and manufacturing team. More than just technical competence we are looking for people with commitment and ambition. Position Summary The Structuralmechanical engineer will be responsible for all aspects of the platform structure design, composite manufacture, insulation MLI and mechanisms The Structuralmechanical engineer will be responsible for defining the spacecraft mass budgets The Structuralmechanical engineer will be responsible for defining the structural qualification sine vibration, shaker testing and verification Responsibilities Define the spacecraft structure in terms of dimensions, composite material and panel connectivity Work with the Lead platform design engineer on the placement and mounting of internal equipments, external equipment and interfaces Work with the Lead platform design engineer on the tradeoff between modular and legobrick design. Define the flatsat test structure and panels with a view to panel to flight assembly if necessary. Work with the payload manufacturing team to ensure that the accommodation for the payload footprint, mechanical interfaces etc. are defined. Liaise with the Program Manager for the procurement of structural and mechanical components. Define the insulation MLI or protective coverage Define any external mechanisms Solar array, thrusters, antenna systems placement and footprint. Liaise with the Power Subsystem engineers mechanisms for the solar array SADM of necessary Liaise with the Propulsion engineers for propulsion control mountings and routing. Liaise with the Payload and TTC engineers for structural mounting Liaise with ElectricalThermal engineers for the harness mounting and routing, thermal sensor placing etc. Produce the mass budget Liaise with launcher authority for production of the launcher interface and launch documentation Ensure that all platform program documentation for the structure and mechanics ICDs, diagrams, budgets etc. is produced.
