(Telecompaper) Sprint added a net 967,000 new mobile customers in the fourth quarter on its Sprint brand network. This included postpaid net additions of 30,000, prepaid net additions of 410,000 and wholesale net additions of 527,000. Sprint said it recorded the highest number of postpaid gross additions in three years, and postpaid phone gross additions increased 20 percent year-over-year. The operator's new CEO Marcelo Claure said the priority is to return to customer growth, and the results show the company is on the right track. Recent offers to win customers from rivals helped Sprint exit the quarter nearly reaching postpaid phone net additions in December and increasing take rates on device financing options to 50 percent in the last month. Sprint will provide its full financial results for the quarter in February.
