Starbucks , Microsoft , Alaska Air Group , Porch.com and other companies are leading a new initiative to hire 100,000 young, minority employees by 2018. The employer-led coalition formed the 100,000 Opportunities Initiative with the collective goal to hire at least that many 16 to 24 year olds who face "systemic barriers to jobs and education" by employing them in apprenticeships, internships, training programs, part-time and full-time jobs.
