After the Close - After a volatile morning of trading, in which the major U.S. equity indexes seesawed back and forth around the neutral line, equities righted themselves around the midday hour and then the market pushed modestly higher thereafter and, for the most part, was able to hold onto the second-half gains by the closing bell.
