U.S. stock indexes are positioned to start a holiday-shortened week with gains, taking cues from relative stability in Chinese markets even as China's August trade data further exposed the challenges facing the world's second-largest economy. Most likely, say industry analysts, because numbers of this nature could keep Chinese officials injecting stimulus into the economy, and by default, into its stock market.
