Thorn SDS is seeking a Storage System Engineer to join their team. Thorn Satellite Data Services Thorn SDS is an independently owned service organisation specialising in the placement, management and development of technical and engineering staff within a wide range of European Space Programmes. From our offices in Darmstadt, Germany, we support supports and manage a growing team of multidisciplined Space professionals. We are constantly looking to grow and develop the team and have many opportunities for candidates looking to further their careers or experience within this business. We are particularly interested in speaking to ambitious individuals, committed to learning and developing their skills in a highly technical environment. The key candidate for this position will have a minimum of 5 years experience in the administration and troubleshooting of distributed storage systems in an operational or production environment. The candidate will be experienced in custom applications as well as standard software, running both on the client and server side and based on high availability requirements. All applicants shall have an expert knowledge along with extensive work experience in the Storage solutions, Storage Area Networks SAN and BackupArchive technologies. Candidates will have demonstrated experience, design and implementation of the following SAN topology, managing Brocade or equivalent Directors and departmental switches Storage virtualisation solutions EMC VPLEX or equivalent serving many different types of storage client platforms Enterprise and Departmental storage solutions EMC VMAX, HDS or equivalent file, block or object base Big Data storage solutions Automation of storage services provision, Cloud Storage, Data Analytics Generation and maintenance of technical documentation in English Experience in any of the following areas would be considered advantageous Implementation of archive solutions using Hierarchical Storage Management HSM system SAMFS or equivalent High end, automated, tape library systems StorageTek SL8500 series with ACSLS software Implementation of backup and recovery solutions Symantec Netbackup or equivalent SystemService Monitoring using Nagios framework The working language for this position is English therefore all applicants must have the ability to effectively work in this language. Thorn offers a complete bespoke relocation support package for any Successful European candidates living outside of Germany. This includes not only financial support but other aspects such as accommodation, tax registration and information regarding local schools.
