The Sugar Regulatory Administration (SRA) is pushing for the immediate passage of a Senate bill that will benefit all sugarcane producers, farmers, and workers. According to the SRA during the Senate Committee on Agriculture hearing on the bills strengthening the sugarcane industry, the sugarcane bill seeks to provide the enabling environment to make sugarcane and sugar production viable, competitive, and, as much as possible, diversified, despite the reduction of its ASEAN tariff to 5 percent in less than a year.
