SUMMARY OF WATCHES AND WARNINGS IN EFFECT: A Tropical Storm Warning is in effect for... * Punta Maldonado to Zihuatanejo A Tropical Storm Warning means that tropical storm conditions are expected somewhere within the warning area, in this case over the next few hours. DISCUSSION AND OUTLOOK ---------------------- At 600 AM CST (1200 UTC), the center of Tropical Storm John was located near latitude 17.7 North, longitude 100.3 West. John is moving toward the northwest near 8 mph (13 km/h). A slow westward motion is expected during the next few days. Maximum sustained winds are near 50 mph (85 km/h) with higher gusts. Continued rapid weakening is anticipated, and John is expected to become a tropical depression later today. Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 45 miles (75 km) from the center. The estimated minimum central pressure is 999 mb (29.50 inches).
