(Telecompaper) Syria's Communications and Technology Ministry has signed an agreement with Huawei on the national strategy for ICT in Syria for 2016-2020. The deal includes preparing a short and long term strategic plan for overhauling and developing information and communication technology in Syria, and also stipulates that Huawei will continue supporting the ministry through an advisory partnership program. Communications and Technology Minister Mohammad al-Jalali said that the MOU aims to benefit from Chinese experience in establishing a communications strategy for broadband connections in the coming years in Syria, stressing the need to follow up and revise this strategy, something which has been delayed due to current circumstances in the country, SANA reported. Al-Jalali noted that broadband connections will be the carrier for the additional applications for information technology to support the economic development process, adding that the ministry is looking forward to a strategic partnership with Huawei which has a high technical level and a strong social responsibility towards its commitments.
