Position Reference 135 As System Administrator, you will have the opportunity to support provision of ESA Ground Facilities Operations Services. In particular, you will provide system engineering, maintenance and operations for the Mission Operations Infrastructure Information Technology the network and the communication system. This position is based in Network Operations Centre NOC, responsible for the provision of ESA Ground Facilities Operations Services, which includes the monitoring and control of ESAs Tracking Station Network ESTRACK as well as the underlying Mission Operations Infrastructure Information Technology MOIIT and Operations Control Centres OCC. Location Darmstadt, Germany. Tasks and Activities The scope of work will include System installation Configuration and maintenance of software products Systems test and validation System rebuilds and data restoration Systems administration Installation and management of user accounts, including the management of user administration rights where authorised in coordination with the Service Desk Maintenance and administration of the shared infrastructure, e.g. virtualization and storage environments Handling of incidents passed from 1st level CCC Service Desk Diagnosis and reporting of software faults, including escalation to 3rd line support if necessary Performance measurement and accounting System and subsystem performance evaluation and optimization Support to problem analysis, with appropriate reporting Arranging for software backups and restoring from backup on request Sustaining replacements Decommissioning and disposal Consultation to the user community Production of utilitiesinterfaces for user applications Production of simple scripts and consultation on script writing Administrate and configure the tools used to monitor the MOIIT infrastructure. Change Management Skills and Experience The following skills and experience are mandatory You have professional qualifications in the relevant disciplines. You have a significant knowledge and a minimum of 5 years direct experience in the area of administration of software systems. You have a demonstrable ability to analyse complex systems and present them in a comprehensible way to across other technical and managerial domains, with the specific ability to understand and communicate the relevant detail whilst maintaining focus on the overall systemwide aspects. You have experience with estimating and scheduling of multiple concurrent technical activities such that milestones and their likely achievement can be communicated. You have good communication skills, in terms of experience in authoring technical and project documentation, and then being able to present it to a broad audience in English. The following skills would be highly desirable Internet Protocol network design, specification, documentation, testing, fault finding, and evolution. You possess indepth knowledge of Cisco design methodologies, technologies and solutions ideally including enterprise WLAN infrastructure. It will be beneficial if the key person holds current Cisco certifications or equivalent You have security skills associated with securing the communication system eg next generation Firewalls, VPN, intrusion detection and prevention, strong authentication.
