Directorate of Launchers The European Space Agency is an equal opportunity employer and encourages applications from women POST System Engineer in the Vega Development Programme, Launchers Development Programmes Department, Directorate of Launchers. This post is classified in the A2A4 grade band of the Coordinated Organisations salary scale. LOCATION ESRIN, Frascati Italy. DUTIES Within the Vega Development Programme, in the Vega Integrated Programme Team IPT, located in Frascati, the postholder will be responsible for the daytoday management of tasks related to launcher system activities tradeoffs relevant to the Vega launcher system architecture, subsystems andor equipment specifications system studies andor relevant subsystems, equipment development and qualification activities Vega subsystem andor equipment evolutions in coordination, where relevant, with evolutions of the Ariane equipment system tests and verification programme, including the analysis of tests results optimisation and completeness of the requirements applicable, including their consistency with the launch vehicle and launcher subsystem specifications as well as the related operational specifications proper application of Vega Project Standards and Management Rules monitoring the schedule, risks and costeffective implementation of the relevant procurements as well as the maintenance of uptodate related technical budgets supporting the endtoend system verification of the launcher system or subsystem level supporting launch campaigns as necessary as qualification monitoring authority in the relevant disciplines supporting the preparation of future evolutions of the launcher System, subsystem andor equipment coordinating the specialised engineering support from the Directorate of Technical and Quality Management DTEC and CNESDirection des Lanceurs in the appropriate areas of competence. QUALIFICATIONS Applicants for this post should have a university degree or equivalent qualification in aerospace engineering and have a proven experience in the development and qualification of launcher systems. Preference will be given to candidates showing comprehensive background and experience on the development and qualification of the Vega launch system. Candidates are expected to demonstrate excellent planning and organisation skills and to have the ability to work effectively in a team environment. The working languages of the Agency are English and French. A good knowledge of one of these two languages is required together with a working knowledge of the other language. Knowledge of another member state language is an asset. CLOSING DATE The closing date for applications is 02 January 2014.
