This post is classified in the A2A4 grade band of the Coordinated Organisations salary scale. LOCATION ESTEC, Noordwijk Netherlands. DUTIES The postholder will be responsible for System Engineering tasks in the Systems and Cost Engineering Division, which provides support to ESA projects, from early phase studies in the Concurrent Design Facility CDF to implementation phase, conducts related RD activities and implements inorbit technology demonstration missions and Technology Flight Opportunities TFO projects. Reporting to the Head of the Systems and Concurrent Engineering Section, the incumbent will be responsible for providing system engineering support for all phases to projects and programmes analysing, defining and specifying mission concepts covering all segments platform, payload, ground through internal and industrial studies organising, participating and leading ESA concurrent engineering studies and activities in cooperation with the Directorates technical specialists, project teams and industry proposing, initiating and managing RD industrial activities related to systems and concurrent engineering supporting the Directorates activities as requested within the Engineers field of competence contributing to the dissemination of the results of activities performed and knowledge transfer across the Agency. The postholder will be part of a technical team, supported by specialists and will therefore work in close cooperation with Directorate engineers, project engineers and external experts. QUALIFICATIONS Applicants for this post should have a Masters degree or equivalent qualification in engineering. Solid experience in the space field, including a substantial background in spacecraft system engineering, is required. Knowledge of concurrent engineering and industrial experience would be an asset. Candidates should have good interpersonal and communication skills. They should be able to work autonomously, effectively and cooperatively in a diverse and international team environment, defining and implementing solutions in line with team and individual objectives and project deadlines. They should also have good analytical, organisational and reporting skills, a proactive attitude to problemsolving and an interest in innovative technologies. For behavioural competencies expected from ESA staff, please refer to the ESA Competency Framework. The working languages of the Agency are English and French. A good knowledge of one of these languages is required. Knowledge of another Member State language would be an asset. Knowledge of another member state language is an asset.
