For Astrium Space Transportation in Friedrichshafen within the area PayloadsLife Support Systems for the department Fluid Physics External Payloads we are looking for a System Engineer ISS Fluid Physics Experiments mf. In the next years up to three additional experiment units for pure research under absence of gravity will be developed as part of the development program Fluid Science Lab Experiment Container. The scientific objectives of these experiments relate to the thermodynamics of evaporation and condensation and heat transfer during boiling. As System Engineer for this development project, you will be responsible for the overall technical leadership of the system teams both inhouse and at several subcontractors. Your main tasks will include Developing complex scientific instruments for subsequent integration into existing rack facilities of the European Columbus module of the ISS Performing system engineering activities in the fields of optics, electronics, software and thermal and vacuum engineering, focusing on the overall scientific function of the instruments under environmental conditions of the ISS Definition of requirements for the instruments and coordination of suppliers, customers and research teams Planning the development stages, including integration and tests for BCD phases Carrying out technical risk assessments Proposing and coordinating breadboard programs and lifecycle and qualification tests Monitoring the interfaces between the instrument slots and FSL rack facility, Columbus module and launcher progress, SpaceX and ATV Setting and monitoring the engineering budget Planning and implementation of the qualification and verification test program Coordinating integration and verification activities Assisting with contract modifications Planning and leading the design and acceptance reviews for the subsystems Implementation of quality and safety requirements for manned spaceflight If you are interested in this position, please apply online via www.jobs.eads.com. We are looking for candidates with the following skills University degree in EngineeringThermodynamics, Physics or similar Proven experience of independent experimental work in relevant research fields, e.g. as part of a PhD or doctorate, would be an advantage Systems engineering experience, including knowledge of the development of scientific payloads, with a focus on Assembly, Integration and Testing AIT Experience in AIT for optical, mechanical and electrical software as well as vacuum systems Knowledge of the specific requirements for ISS experiment systems, in particular with regard to product assurance and safety Experience in producing technical documentation in English, such as specifications, analyses and reports Experience in system verification, in close collaboration with agencies and subcontractors as well as teams of scientists Experience in coordinating a development team consisting of members from various technical fields and a large number of subcontractors Ability to grasp scientific requirements from the customer and scientists and implement them in technical specifications for subsystems Selfconfidence and ability to present the project in an international context to space agencies and in the scientific field English fluent German good TO APPLY click here
