A Ground Systems Engineer with previous experience in system virtualisation is being recruited by Astrium in Portsmouth. You will work in a team within the Ground Systems department and deliver high profile projects for the European Space Agency or the United Kingdom Space Agency as well as on Research and Development to address the future ground systems challenges. The Ground System department offer a unique opportunity to develop IT skills and gain experience into the space domain. It is important that the candidates are autonomous and multi task on different projectsRDs in the same time. The candidate will be involved around 70 of their time on projects to gain relevant and consistent experiences in accordance with their career plan. 30 of their time will be allocated to RD, Innovation, Continuous Training or Business Acquisition activities in accordance with the successful applicants profile. The candidates have to demonstrate good organisational and interpersonal skills in addition to the capabilities of undertaking the following responsibilities System Engineering Design, Specification, Implementation and Validation System Design Authority Technical Management Skills o System Virtualization and migration o Architecture design o Infrastructure Integration and evolution o System engineering requirement, design, validation and operation o Experience in designing solutions in networks, storage and servers o Network experience to include firewalls, switches and load balancing o Server experience should include implementing physical and virtual servers and associated connectivity o Experienced in the design and deployment of large scale, highly distributed architectures virtual and physical and associated networks o Detailed knowledge of infrastructure technologies including LAN e.g. 10GigE, etc. large scale WAN within virtual computing environments. o Experience within large scale, multisite, distributed, andor cloud computing environment including large scale distributed storage and database implementations. o Operating Systems MS Server 2003, MS Server 2008, Red Hat Enterprise Linux, CentOS, VMWare o Networking Cisco, ACE, MPLS, IPv4 and IPv6 TO APPLY click here
