Technical Architect, Transportable United States Manassas, Virginia ROLE DESCRIPTION SUMMARY The Technical Architect is a key member of the SES Networks Ground Systems engineering team providing technical leadership and expertise in the area of transportable comms on the pause terminals used in military and commercial applications. The Technical Architect will lead SES Networks design and integration activities related to the transportable terminal. The Technical Architect shall work closely with product development, multidiscipline engineering teams, and operations teams to continuously add new features and capabilities to the terminal. This role will be at the forefront of innovating how SES provides an unmatched customer experience. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES KEY RESULT AREAS Develop forwardlooking architectures and designs that support implementation of evolving SES Networks products and capabilities Lead a crossfunctional integrated project team in the development, test, and delivery of transportable terminal enhancements Develop and maintain the product development, integration and preproduction overtheair lab environments for transportable terminal Manage the activities of the vendors and partners to ensure systems are delivered in a timely manner within budget, meeting all requirements Provide product lifecycle engineering and level 4 technical support to operations for all transportable terminals deliveries Effectively communicate status of ongoing projects to technical and nontechnical stakeholders Evaluate new and emerging technologies for introduction or integration into the technical roadmap Provide technical direction to subcontractors and vendors developing MEO Ka compatible antennas, RF components, and baseband equipment Manage the development and document requirements, specifications, interface, and testactivities Develop automated test methods to speed up delivery of new features and bug fixes Other adhoc tasks, as assigned by Line Manager COMPETENCIES Excellent written and oral communication skills, in English Effective communication and presentations skills in working with both technical and nontechnical support staff Ability to provide accurate information to vendors and other colleagues, in a timely manner Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects, with welldeveloped organizational skills High attention the details Demonstrated performance as a reliable team player SelfStarter with a high level of personal accountability Sense of urgency, initiative and competitive drive to get things done Ability to work at in a fast pace environment Ability to travel, up to 20 of the time QUALIFICATION EXPERIENCE BS in Electrical Engineering, RF Engineering or Computer Science, or similar Master degree in Engineering, Computer Sciences, Telecommunications or similar, preferred 10 years of experience in satellite communication systems, satellite tracking terminal systems or satellitebased networking data systems KaBand systems experience a plus Experience in the development or application of VSAT baseband equipment Experience in development and deployment of VSAT networks Working knowledge of AC and DC power systems At least 5 years of operational experience in remote baseband, IF, RF, antennas, and WANLAN equipment Indepth knowledge of Telecommunications Satellite Systems including VSAT systems Highly experienced in developing and maintaining high availability satellite or telecommunications systems through the use of manned and unmanned facilities Complete understanding of GEO, MEO, and LEO telecommunications satellite technologies and systems Knowledge of internet based network connectivity principles and implementation ExcellentGood command of MS Office package Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Visio Working knowledge of LinuxUnix operating systems Whats in it for you?
