(Telecompaper) Telecom Italia managers are planning to invest EUR 10 billion to upgrade its fixed-network unit with fibre-optic technology, two people familiar with the matter told Bloomberg news agency. The investment, to be made over a 10-year period, will help network unit Opac to provide faster internet access and services including HD video. The investment would be funded by cash generated by the network unit as well as contributions from investors, according to the same sources.
