(Telecompaper) Telefonica has announced the launch of a new unit focused on the security of the Internet of Things (IoT) as well as new tools developed in close collaboration with its ElevenPaths security subsidiary and telecommunications software specialist Subex. The initiative, dubbed simply Telefonica IoT Cybersecurity Unit, aims to expand the operator's existing catalogue of IoT products and services offered to customers while developing new IoT security tools to address existing and emerging threats faced by businesses deploying IoT. Telefonica said the unit will be based on its existing network infrastructure and the new Internet of Things management services available on its Kite platform.
