(Telecompaper) Belgian cable operators Telenet and Voo are considering a joint bid for mobile operator Base, L'Echo reports. The negotiations on the takeover are thought to be well advanced, with the bidders already gaining access to the Base data room, a source close to the deal told the paper. Danny Weekers, strategy director at Nethys, the parent company of Voo, said it was "no secret" that the company was interested in Base, "everyone is", he said, while adding that he did not think access to the data room was yet possible. Base's parent company KPN reportedly kept the Belgian management of the company outside the sales process until mid-March, the paper said. Weekers said an alliance with Telenet "would make sense" but the two had no formal agreement nor plans to arrange a joint bid. Telenet declined to comment on the report.
