SUMMARY OF WATCHES AND WARNINGS IN EFFECT: A Tropical Storm Watch is in effect for... * Puerto Escondido to Boca De Pijijiapan A Tropical Storm Watch means that tropical storm conditions are possible within the watch area, generally within 48 hours. For storm information specific to your area, please monitor products issued by your national meteorological service. DISCUSSION AND 48-HOUR OUTLOOK ------------------------------ At 400 PM CDT (2100 UTC), the center of Tropical Depression One-E was located near latitude 14.2 North, longitude 97.0 West. The depression is moving toward the northeast near 7 mph (11 km/h) and this motion is expected to continue during the next day or two. On the forecast track, the center of the depression is expected to approach the coast of southern Mexico on Tuesday. Maximum sustained winds are near 35 mph (55 km/h) with higher gusts. Little change in strength is expected before the cyclone makes landfall. The estimated minimum central pressure is 1006 mb (29.71 inches). HAZARDS AFFECTING LAND ---------------------- RAINFALL: The depression is expected to produce total rain accumulations of 4 to 6 inches with isolated amounts of around 8 inches possible through Wednesday over the southern Mexican states of Oaxaca, Chiapas, Tabasco, and eastern Veracruz. These rains could produce life-threatening flash floods and mud slides, especially in areas of mountainous terrain. NEXT ADVISORY ------------- Next intermediate advisory at 700 PM CDT.
