DISCUSSION AND OUTLOOK ---------------------- At 200 AM CVT (0300 UTC), the center of Tropical Depression Rene was located near latitude 17.0 North, longitude 29.3 West. The depression is moving toward the west-northwest near 16 mph (26 km/h), and a motion toward the west or west-northwest is expected over the next couple of days, followed by a turn to the northwest. Maximum sustained winds have decreased to near 35 mph (55 km/h) with higher gusts. Gradual strengthening is forecast, and Rene is expected to regain tropical storm strength later this morning, and become a hurricane in a couple of days. The estimated minimum central pressure is 1004 mb (29.65 inches). HAZARDS AFFECTING LAND ---------------------- None.
