SUMMARY OF 200 AM PDT...0900 UTC...INFORMATION ---------------------------------------------- LOCATION...20.1N 129.2W ABOUT 1255 MI...2020 KM W OF THE SOUTHERN TIP OF BAJA CALIFORNIA MAXIMUM SUSTAINED WINDS...40 MPH...65 KM/H PRESENT MOVEMENT...WNW OR 300 DEGREES AT 9 MPH...15 KM/H MINIMUM CENTRAL PRESSURE...1005 MB...29.68 INCHES WATCHES AND WARNINGS -------------------- There are no coastal watches or warnings in effect. DISCUSSION AND OUTLOOK ---------------------- At 200 AM PDT (0900 UTC), the center of Tropical Storm Hilda was located near latitude 20.1 North, longitude 129.2 West. Hilda is moving toward the west-northwest near 9 mph (15 km/h) and this motion with a slight increase in forward speed is expected over the next couple of days. Maximum sustained winds are near 40 mph (65 km/h) with higher gusts. Weakening is expected during the next couple of days, and Hilda is forecast to become a tropical depression later today and degenerate into a remnant low on Friday. Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 60 miles (95 km) from the center. The estimated minimum central pressure is 1005 mb (29.68 inches). HAZARDS AFFECTING LAND ---------------------- None.
