DISCUSSION AND 48-HOUR OUTLOOK ------------------------------ At 1100 PM AST (0300 UTC), the center of Tropical Storm Ida was located near latitude 18.9 North, longitude 47.0 West. Ida is moving toward the northwest near 14 mph (22 km/h). A turn toward the north-northwest with a substantial decrease in forward speed is expected on Monday, followed by a slow meandering motion on Tuesday. Maximum sustained winds are near 45 mph (75 km/h) with higher gusts. Some strengthening is possible during the next day or so, followed by little change in strength after that. Tropical storm force winds extend outward up to 175 miles (280 km) from the center. The estimated minimum central pressure is 1005 mb (29.68 inches).
