SUMMARY OF 800 PM PDT...0300 UTC...INFORMATION ---------------------------------------------- LOCATION...17.6N 115.5W ABOUT 515 MI...830 KM SW OF THE SOUTHERN TIP OF BAJA CALIFORNIA MAXIMUM SUSTAINED WINDS...50 MPH...85 KM/H PRESENT MOVEMENT...NNE OR 30 DEGREES AT 3 MPH...6 KM/H MINIMUM CENTRAL PRESSURE...999 MB...29.50 INCHES WATCHES AND WARNINGS -------------------- There are no coastal watches or warnings in effect. DISCUSSION AND OUTLOOK ---------------------- At 800 PM PDT (0300 UTC), the center of Tropical Storm Iselle was located near latitude 17.6 North, longitude 115.5 West. Iselle is moving toward the north-northeast near 3 mph (6 km/h), and this general motion is expected to continue through Friday night. A northward and then northwestward motion is expected during the weekend. Maximum sustained winds are near 50 mph (85 km/h) with higher gusts. Some strengthening is possible overnight, but Iselle is expected to begin to gradually weaken late Friday. Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 70 miles (110 km) from the center. The estimated minimum central pressure is 999 mb (29.50 inches). HAZARDS AFFECTING LAND ---------------------- SURF: Swells generated by Iselle and a large area of southwesterly winds to its south are affecting portions of the southwestern coast of Mexico and are expected to spread northward along the coast of west-central Mexico and the southern Baja California peninsula tonight and continue through Sunday. These swells are likely to cause life-threatening surf and rip current conditions. Please consult products from your local weather office.
