DISCUSSION AND OUTLOOK ---------------------- At 800 PM PDT (0300 UTC), the center of Tropical Storm Karina was located near latitude 18.2 North, longitude 117.1 West. Karina is moving toward the west-northwest near 13 mph (20 km/h), and this general motion is expected to continue for the next several days. Maximum sustained winds are near 45 mph (75 km/h) with higher gusts. Some slight strengthening is forecast in the next 24 hours, with gradual weakening expected to begin on Tuesday. Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 150 miles (240 km) from the center. The estimated minimum central pressure is 1001 mb (29.56 inches).
