DISCUSSION AND OUTLOOK ---------------------- At 900 PM MDT (0300 UTC), the center of Tropical Storm Kevin was located near latitude 16.0 North, longitude 110.3 West. Kevin is moving toward the west near 8 mph (13 km/h). A turn toward the west-northwest is expected overnight, and that general motion should continue during the next few days. Maximum sustained winds remain near 60 mph (95 km/h) with higher gusts. Slow strengthening is expected during the next day or two, and Kevin could become a hurricane Monday night or Tuesday. Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 60 miles (95 km) from the center. The estimated minimum central pressure is 999 mb (29.50 inches). HAZARDS AFFECTING LAND ---------------------- SURF: Swells generated by Kevin are affecting portions of the coast of southwestern Mexico, and are expected to spread northward to the coast of Baja California Sur during the next day or two. These swells are likely to cause life-threatening surf and rip current conditions. Please consult products from your local weather office.
