DISCUSSION AND 48-HOUR OUTLOOK ------------------------------ At 200 AM PDT (0900 UTC), the center of Tropical Storm Madeline was located near latitude 14.5 North, longitude 138.4 West. Madeline is moving toward the west-northwest near 10 mph (17 km/h). A northwestward motion with some decrease in forward speed is expected during the next couple of days. Maximum sustained winds have increased to near 50 mph (85 km/h) with higher gusts. Continued strengthening is forecast, and Madeline could become a hurricane Sunday night or Monday. Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 60 miles (95 km) from the center. The estimated minimum central pressure is 1000 mb (29.53 inches).
