DISCUSSION AND 48-HOUR OUTLOOK ------------------------------ At 200 PM PDT (2100 UTC), the center of Tropical Storm Olaf was located near latitude 9.2 North, longitude 130.5 West. Olaf is moving toward the west near 13 mph (20 km/h). A decrease in forward speed is expected by tonight, with a turn toward the west-northwest forecast on Sunday. Maximum sustained winds remain near 60 mph (95 km/h) with higher gusts. Additional strengthening is forecast, and Olaf is expected to become a hurricane by Sunday, and be near major hurricane strength on Monday. Tropical storm force winds extend outward up to 60 miles (95 km) from the center. The estimated minimum central pressure is 999 mb (29.50 inches). HAZARDS AFFECTING LAND ---------------------- None.
