Tunisie Telecom stake attracts 13 bidders

2013-06-27 07:53:00| Telecompaper Headlines

(Telecompaper) The 35 percent Tunisie Telecom stake put up for sale by Emirati International Telecomunications (EIT) has attracted at least four bidders, ICT minister Mongi Marzouk announced on radio station Express FM. Turkcell and Etisalat will compete against another Turkish company and a Korean one, he said. Application criteria include being a fixed or mobile operator, as the government's aim is "to realise more added value for Tunisie Telecom, in terms of developing services, technologies and strategic choices". Ahmed ben Hussien, an official in the Ministry of Communications, told Reuters that there are 13 companies which expressed interest in buying the stake, including six international companies. He said these include Turkcell and Turk Telekom, Korea Telecom, Etisalat and two others from China.
