(Telecompaper) Twitter has announced via a blogpost that it has reached a deal with Berlin-based digital music provider SoundCloud to introduce a service allowing users to play podcasts, music and other audio clips direct from their message feeds, known as timelines. The service will take the form of "audio cards", which Twitter users need only tap once to listen to a variety of content whilst browsing their timelines. To continue browsing while listening to the selected audio, the Twitter user can "dock" the audio card with a single swipe. SoundCloud partners such as the Washington Post, CNN, David Guetta, Coldplay, Warner Music, NASA and the White House will now be able to use Twitter's new audio cards to share music and audio right in their followers' Twitter timelines on both iOS and Android devices. Twitter added that the audio cards will also soon be available to anyone who posts on SoundCloud and that the service will offer musicians a chance to post exclusive clips. "Many more musical artists and creators will be able to share exclusive, in-the-moment audio to millions of listeners on Twitter," said the company in its blog.
