U.S. Steel Postpones EAF at Fairfield Works

United States Steel Corp. will postpone construction of the electric arc furnace at its Fairfield Works in Birmingham, Ala., due to the challenging market conditions in both the oil and gas and steel industries. In mid-December, oil prices hit an eight-year low in the same week that rig counts dropped to a 16-year low of 709.
