UK car sales rise 8.6% on strong demand for diesel, VW cars

UK new-car registrations rose by 8.6 percent percent in September as demand for diesel vehicles remained strong despite Volkswagen Group's emissions scandal. Sales of diesel cars rose 4.1 percent to 212,504 last month, representing a market share of 45.9 percent.
