UK operators agree to end shock mobile phone bills

2013-12-03 10:39:00| Telecompaper Headlines

(Telecompaper) UK telecoms firms have signed up to a government plan to reduce the cost of mobile phone bills. Mobile operators Vodafone, Virgin Media, 3 UK and EE have agreed to limit liability bills on a handset that has been reported lost or stolen to GBP 50 from spring 2014. They have also agreed to stop unexpected mid-contract price rises by being transparent with customers at the start of contracts, and to eliminate roaming charges by 2016. BT, Sky and Talk Talk have also signed up to the agreement, leaving O2 as the only major mobile operator not to sign up.
