UP defends bypassing Metra's costly wind detectors in delaying trains

Union Pacific says it wanted to err on the side of caution when it stopped trains because of not-so high winds this week. Metra spent about $200,000 in 2014 buying wind detectors known as anemometers for its three Union Pacific routes to avoid unnecessary weather-related delays.
