US stocks head lower following losses in European markets

J.M. Smucker fell 2.5 percent in midday trading Thursday after the food and coffee maker reported a loss in its latest quarter. Dish Network and T-Mobile jumped after The Wall Street Journal reported that the two companies are considering a merger.
