This is a permanent position, calling for at least 5 years experience of VMware and SAN technology. You will be placed on assignment based near Frankfurt in Germany for several years. Candidates should ideally be available to start by September 2015. Our client is responsible for establishing and operating weather forecasting and Earth observation satellite programmes with associated data telemetry and dissemination operations. Vast quantities of data are produced and user communities throughout the world are able to access both current and historical data sets. The demanding realtime environment places much emphasis on adherence to quality and configuration management standards and procedures. The main working language is English. The role will embrace Operation and maintenance of VMware infrastructure based on HP Blade hardware and the ESX vSphere OS. Operation and maintenance of Storage Area Network infrastructure based on HP Storage EVA and NetApp Contributing to the operation of the backup system based on Symantec NetBackup and Veeam Backup Provision of second level user and technical support. The key experience and attributes sought are Operation and maintenance of a VMware infrastructure running on VMware vSphere Experience in operating, maintaining and monitoring of storage systems, preferably NetApp FAS series VMware and NetApp storage certifications are considered an asset. Knowledge of some of the following would be advantageous Operation and maintenance of a backup infrastructure, preferably running on Symantec NetBackup 7.x. HP EVA Installing, configuring and tuning of SAN fabrics A structured, ISO 9000 certified project and service environment ITIL methodology Change and configuration management.
