O3b Networks is a Global Satellite Service Provider deploying a next generation satellite network. This network will enable our customers in emerging markets to extend their range and reach of service through fast, flexible and affordable connectivity. We are now looking to hire a VSAT Engineer Employment Type FullTime Regular Required Experience min. 7 years of experience related to the duties of this position Required Education Bachelors or Masters of Science in Electrical Engineering Department Name Ground Engineering Reporting To Chief Engineer, Ground Systems Working Location Manassas, VA Travel Required Yes, up to 25 of the time possibly more initially Relocation provided No Role Description The VSAT Engineer shall report directly to the Chief Engineer, Ground Systems. Employing the O3b network capabilities, the VSAT engineer shall work with clients to identifydefine and document requirements and to architect, build, testevaluate, document and support production efforts for the resulting VSAT ground solutions. Responsibilities 1. Client requirements gathering to identifydefine and document commercial and government VSAT client applications and solutions requirements Work with clients to define and document requirements Present, refine and obtain solution requirements concurrence from clients 2. Architect VSAT ground solutions based on clients needs as can be supported with the O3b network Architectdocumentation design to meet clients application to include the terminals, RF components, modems, power requirementsconvertors, link analysiscalculations, communications e.g. Ethernet and wiring e.g. coaxial or Ethernet and other required components and capabilities Present, refine and obtain designarchitecture concurrence from clients Ensure integration of solution with the O3b network 3. Build, test, evaluate, document and support production of VSAT ground solutions Build, test, and evaluate VSAT ground system hubs, modems, and antenna solutions Prepare and maintain in all required documentation to include design specifications, drawings, bill of material, and manuals Provide support for solutions approved for production Requirements Minimum 7 years of experience specifically related to the duties of this position Bachelors or Masters of Science in Electrical Engineering or related field Specific experience successfully working with and within large organizational infrastructure Experienced in designing custom solutions using minimal COTS components Working knowledge of IP based communications and protocols Experience performing RF analysis in support of antenna and VSAT systems design Experience with NMS, satellite modems, and Monitoring and Control systems Excellent communications skills, both written and verbal, in English Experience working in a team environment Strong client interface skills Ability to effectively adapt to rapidly changing requirements and objectives and come up with practical ideas for dealing with them Demonstrated performance as a reliable team player Selfstarter with a high level of personal accountability, can work independently Sense of urgency, and the ability to make decisions and take responsibility for them Selfdisciplined person who can handle details Prefer experience with MEO or LEO communications systems Government client exposure is a plus Legal right to work in United States Note All applicants for permanent positions at O3b Networks are subject to reference and background screening.
