(Telecompaper) Verizon Communication is eager to buy out Vodafone's 45 percent stake in their US mobile joint venture Verizon Wireless this year, writes Bloomberg, citing people familiar with the situation. The two companies have discussed various options, including a full merger or Verizon taking full control of Vodafone's stake, estimated by analysts to be worth USD 115 billion. Two people familiar with the talks said negotiations as recent as December about a full merger broke down over disagreements on headquarter locations and leadership. This makes a partial sale or buyout of Vodafone's Verizon Wireless stake a more likely option. Talks on either a merger or stake sale are expected to restart this year, according to three of the people.
