Verizon to acquire EdgeCast

(Telecompaper) Verizon has announced a definitive agreement to acquire EdgeCast, a provider of content delivery networks. Verizon Digital Media Services will integrate EdgeCast capabilities to meet digital media content growth and broaden its portfolio of site acceleration service for digital enterprises. The Verizon and EdgeCast board of directors have approved this acquisition, slated to be completed in early 2014. No financial details of the takeover were disclosed.
