(Telecompaper) Huawei and Vodafone Spain have teamed up to complete what the partners described as the world's first commercial deployment of dual-band High Speed Downlink Packet Access (DB-HSDPA) technology. The companies said the technology delivers approximately double the amount of UMTS throughput compared to a single carrier solution on UMTS 900MHz, which will be the main UMTS band to be used in the future throughout Europe. Huawei added that DB-HSDPA improves the experience for users on UMTS networks in the 900MHz band because it can absorb a larger number of subscribers than the UMTS 2100MHz band.
