Washington Mills' DURAMUL is a fused mullite with no free silica. It is produced with slightly less silica and slightly higher alumina than stoichiometric mullite. Investment casters using cheaper raw materials who have concerns about the level of exposure to free silica should consider Washington Mills' fused mullite for shell building. The properties of DURAMUL fused mullite are unique because Washington Mills controls the chemistry of the product through our own fusion process.<br />
