For our activities in EUMETSAT, we are currently looking for a Web Content Developer Writing and Social Media. Tasks and Responsibilities You will be responsible for the creating and maintaining a wide range of website content including general page content, news items and imagery graphics which together describe and promote the data and services provided by EUMETSAT. Duties shall range from the editing of text provided by colleagues to initiating and preparing new content. The content is to be prepared using standard web page layouts and interfaces. In performing these tasks, you are expected to communicate with internal product and satellite system experts to gather the required input. You will work with others from across the organisation, including web development teams and other web content providers. You main tasks will be Produce and maintain Web based content both textual and graphical relevant to the current and future data, products and services of EUMETSAT, in particular to support the content provision of the Image Library section of the website create news items in a timely fashion ensure information integrity use creative and innovative means to describe the services offered by EUMETSAT and to promote their uptake by the user community Work with various website and web application developers to support the evolution of online information enhance web information provision based upon usage trends and user feedback review user requirements for web site design enhancements support web usability studies assist in the identification of further web services support version release testing and validation reviews Maintain and evolve the information provided on EUMETSATs product and data services through social media sites maintain the eumetsatusers Twitter account provide supporting content for a Climate Blog provide expert input to future evolutions of social media services All tasks and deliverables shall be performed in accordance with relevant EUMETSAT working practices and guidelines, and the Consultant is asked to support the maintenance of these practices and guidelines. Requirements Essentials In addition to having a university degree, or equivalent, in a related discipline, you should meet the following essential criteria Expert in writing for websites Excellent written English Familiarity with website usability best practices Expert in the provision of information through social media Experience in HTML5, CSS3 and JavaScript writing and editing skills Experience in working with imagemoviebased web content, using formats such as JPEGPNG, MP4 Familiarity with graphics design packages, e.g. Adobe Creative Suite Photoshop Knowledge of MS Office Highlevel of autonomy in working arrangements and the ability to apply initiative and creativity in the execution of tasks. This will be demonstrated through a minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible experience in relevant disciplines. You should be able to conduct all activities in an orderly and disciplined manner and must be able to work with the minimum of supervision. Fluency in English is mandatory and a working knowledge of French would be an advantage. Desirables Furthermore, it would be a distinct advantage to have experience with generating web content using a Content Management System developing content to support Search Engine Optimisation providing web content for an international audience.
