LA VERNE >> Adding nearly 100 new homes and 40 new businesses, doubling restaurant sales and breaking ground for Gilead Sciences Inc., a pharmaceutical company that will bring 500 new jobs to La Verne, were among the 2015 highlights identified by Mayor Don Kendrick in his annual State of the City address Wednesday. The mayor also announced current projects that will improve the city's economic development profile with more commercial, residential, administrative office spaces; resolve strains on downtown parking and search for enterprises in a new transit-oriented district springing from the Gold Line light rail coming to town .
