A consortium with ties to Google intends through a series of partnerships to make connecting to Wi-Fi easier in the Big Apple. The CityBridge consortium and city of New York aim to convert 10,000 payphones throughout the five boroughs into gigabit Wi-Fi hotspots in a project called LinkNYC .
