Traditional gas-driven vehicles have a surprisingly high recycling rate, particularly when it comes to highly toxic lead acid batteries. But electric, hybrid, and alternative-fuel vehicles are vastly more difficult to recycle, and there is little infrastructure and few processes in place for them.
