Voters overwhelmingly supported a Special Town Meeting initiative to attempt to purchase the EIinor M. Ristuccia Memorial Arena Thursday, a move that officials and residents alike say would return priority at the rink to Wilmington residents who claim they've been shunted over the years. Residents passed three articles to allow for the purchase of the rink: one which authorized $2.25 million for the purchase, one to set up an enterprise fund to run the rink and a third to authorize the town manager to execute contracts and leases for the management of the rink.
